Dungeons & Dragons

Why Read Them?

More than 30 years after its first novel, Dungeons & Dragons remains the most popular fantasy franchise. Novelists Tracy Hickman & Margaret Weiss started it all with their Dragonlance Chronicles series, while later authors like R.A. Salvatore popularized fantasy writing for whole new audiences. Rich mini-universes with endless possibilities, compelling characters, and a very popular tabletop role-playing game all help keep Dungeons & Dragons at the top of the pack of fantasy stories for teens and adults.

The graphic novel format is very well-suited for Dungeons & Dragons as well as fantasy fiction in general, as magical spells and fantastical creatures can often better hold the reader's attention when depicted visually, and the plots can move at a quicker pace. Check out graphic novel adaptations of classic novels like the Dragonlance Chronicles and the Dark Elf Trilogy below, as well as original works like Legends of Baldur's Gate by clicking the cover images below. The Wheel of Time graphic novels by Robert Jordan & Chuck Dixon would also be great for fans of fantasy fiction, so be sure to give them a shot as well.
