Shop Local with the Library Shop

Shop Local with Library Shop

SDG is a great place to shop local! We have an abundance of craft breweries, cheese factories, vineyards, beautiful gift stores, talented artists… all of whom could use your support.

During the pandemic, shopping local has become more important than ever as small businesses have struggled to survive amid lockdowns, closures and having to constantly adapt to new rules and regulations.

The Library has also had its pandemic related struggles- but we feel that the pandemic has proven that the Library has significant value to our community. In addition to loaning out physical materials such as books and DVDs, the SDG Library helps combat connectivity issues by loaning mobile hotspots. We save parents money by offering guitars, ukuleles and keyboards for loan- a lifesaver for those who would like to try before they buy! We also have high speed Wi-Fi available at all fifteen of our branches and staff that are knowledgeable about Library resources and their local communities.

If you’re wondering where the best place to eat is in your community, you can bet that your local SDG Library staff can tell you where it is! They can also help connect you to community groups, recommend the best place to buy gifts, and they provide Library programs to build community and teach new skills.

And in case you didn’t know, the SDG Library is a great place to shop local too- and support the Library and all the services we have to offer. Come check out our Library Shop at any of our Branches and take home a gift for the booklover in your life today. Alexandria even has its own “Library Shop Tree”, so plan a visit to get into the holiday spirit.

Remember: when you’re supporting a small business, you’re supporting a dream!
