There is a very important group of people that play such an integral part in any community, volunteers – the individuals that dedicate their time, knowledge and skills to help their community prosper, and we are all the richer for the contributions that volunteers make in our neighborhoods. This week is National Volunteer week, a time to recognise and celebrate the hard work of volunteers across Canada.
The SDG Library is incredibly lucky to have a group of dedicated volunteers. These wonderful members provide vital support to our network of Library branches. They bring enthusiasm and energy to the Library, ready to lend a hand, whether it’s assisting with day-to-day operations or providing support at events, they have a profound impact on the Library and the sense of community it fosters.
We offer a variety of volunteer roles and match volunteers based on their strengths and interests. Whether it’s assisting as a Library helper, or providing outreach support, to helping facilitate programs and events, there is always an opportunity for volunteers year-round.
The SDG Library also has several “Friends of the Library” groups that advocate and promote the Library within their communities by raising awareness through local events and assisting with communication efforts locally and across social media.
Thank you to each and every one of our volunteers, we greatly value the contributions you make and recognise the instrumental role you play at SDG Library.
So, the next time you visit your local Library, take a moment to appreciate those volunteers who play a part, their kindness and commitment help create a nurturing space for our community.
