Library Board
About the Board
The SDG Library Board plays an important role in shaping the future of public library services across the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. Comprised of community representatives and elected officials, the Board is responsible for ensuring the Library remains accountable, sustainable, and responsive to the evolving needs of the communities it serves.
In accordance with Ontario's Public Libraries Act, the Board's key responsibilities include:
- Establishing the Library's vision, strategic priorities, and long-term direction.
- Developing and approving policies that guide Library operations.
- Providing financial oversight and ensuring responsible stewardship of public resources.
- Advocating for the value of public libraries and their contributions to the community.
- Appointing, supporting, and evaluating the Director of Library Services.
Mission, Vision and Values
The SDG Library's mission, vision, and values provide the foundation for the Board's governance and decision-making. They guide the Library's long-term direction and ensure its services and priorities remain aligned with the needs and aspirations of the communities it serves.
Board Members
The SDG Library Board consists of seven members: three (3) public trustees and four (4) representatives of SDG County Council. Members are appointed by County Council for a four-year term, generally corresponding with the municipal election cycle.
