Outreach

Pop-ups

The SDG Library's pop-up booths are designed to go beyond traditional library set-ups by bringing our enthusiasm and knowledge directly to community events. From fair to yardsale visits, our staff provides a gateway to the vast array of resources, programs, and services we offer.

Interested in knowing more about the library? Our staff would love to chat with you at our pop-ups and answer your questions. Keep an eye on our events calendar to find out when the next pop-up booth will be in your area!

Class Visits

Welcome to SDG Library, where learning comes alive through immersive class visits. We are delighted to host educators and their classes at our libraries for sessions full of fun and learning. Contact the library location you would like to visit for more information!

Library orientation

All grades

Let us show your students what the library has to offer- program information, homework help resources, library cards and more! All visits can include a fun, literacy-based activity that will appeal to each grade level.

Book deposit

All grades

If you can't come to the library, we can come to you. Library staff can make arrangements for monthly book deliveries of age appropriate reading materials. Titles can include fiction and non-fiction titles that support general reading interests and/or units of study.

Book exchange

All grades

Give your class time to browse, read and borrow books from the library. Class-specific displays may be requested in advance.

Projects: Getting started

All grades

Arrange a visit that fits any unit of study. Library staff can set aside materials and students can learn how to use our print and electronic resources.

Reading Fun

JK to Grade 3

Add some more fun to your unit of study with a storytime visit to the library. Tell us your theme and we'll excite your students with age-appropriate stories and activities. We will show them around the library and time can be left to browse and borrow items.

Exploring books and authors

Grades 4 to 8

Encourage a love of reading for the entire class. We will highlight new, popular and well-loved books or authors that appeal to both advanced and reluctant readers. Library staff can help to choose age-appropriate books and magazines that your students will love to read.

Your virtual library

Grades 4 to 8

Book a fun and interactive visit for your class to learn about all the great things they can do through the library's website. There is something for everyone! Students will learn how to use our catalogue to find materials and place holds, to discover website and electronic resources and to search for magazine and newspaper articles.
