Every April, readers across the country come together for One eRead/Un Livrel Canada, a nationwide digital book club that connects libraries and communities through a shared reading experience. This year’s featured title is What I Know About You by Éric Chacour, originally published in French as Ce que je sais de toi and beautifully translated into English by Pablo Strauss.
What I Know About You follows Tarek, who grows up in a tight-knit Levantine Christian family in 1960s Cairo. He starts to walk the path his family has laid out for him, to follow in his father’s footsteps as a doctor and a father. When he meets Ali, the son of a patient, the two form a bond they must keep a secret.
Chacour’s writing blends emotional depth with vivid atmosphere, offering a story that is both intimate and universally resonant. It’s a compelling choice for a program designed to spark discussion, understanding and connection. This April, discover a captivating story and join readers from coast to coast in celebrating Canadian literature.
