SDG Reading Challenge – December 2025

You've made it! The last challenge for 2025 - you got this!

After eleven (11) challenges are you in a reading slump? Maybe having trouble focusing on a book, no titles seem to capture or hold your interest? Or maybe you’re pressed for time this holiday season? Try picking up a short story collection, the December theme for the SDG Reading Challenge.
Short, direct, or concise, these stories often deliver a strong, quick punch in just a few pages.  They explore big ideas and deep emotions despite their limited length. Some are funny, some dark, some deeply moving. It’s surprising how well short stories reflect the human condition and the universal struggles many of us face, while offering a compelling glimpse into another world or viewpoint.
There’s a reason many short stories are adapted for film and television. You’re often dropped right into the middle of the action, and the story moves fast from there. They trust you to fill in the details while you get swept along. Because of their brevity, short stories let you explore new authors and genres without committing to a full-length novel. They span all genres, sometimes even within the same collection, so there’s truly something for everyone.
In all honesty, there’s something uniquely satisfying about finishing an entire story in a single sitting. While they might be quick reads, their impact often lingers far longer.  Check out the suggested reads below.

~Happy reading!
