October is Ontario Library Month! Every year Libraries across the province take this opportunity to not only celebrate but to raise awareness of the valuable role they have in their communities. This year in 2025 the theme is "Libraries For Life/ Biblios pour la vie". From your first story to a lifelong journey of learning and discovery, Libraries grow with you and your families for generations. From baby story times, class visits, and programs for all ages; to Internet access, books, DVD's, and board games; the list keeps going and growing!
The SDG Library is here for you, for every stage of your life, and you can find support with every step along the way.
During Ontario Public Library Month, we celebrate the stories and opportunities Libraries offer at every stage of life - Libraries evolve as we do. Many people hear the word 'Library' and immediately think of only books! We are so much more than that, but you already know that, because you are here reading this blog! But what if you took a moment to share with a fellow friend or family member all that the Library means to you; what could happen? Tell them we are more than just free books, so much more! Would they be inspired to check it out, sign up for a Library card? Would they thank you for reminding them what a wonderful, supportive and welcoming place the Library is? I bet they would!
We challenge you to share your love and appreciation for your local Library by reading a book with the word 'Library' in the title and join us at any of our local branches to celebrate Ontario library Month!
~Happy reading!
