    Library staff can assist with computer use; however, depending on the nature of your request it may be required that you schedule an appointment to ensure that staff can dedicate time to assisting you.

    If you are downloading files that you need later, we recommend saving them to your personal USB drive or a cloud storage service. Files downloaded to our computers will be erased once you log out of the computer station.

    SDG Library computers can be accessed using your SDG Library barcode and your 4 digit pin number. If you are having trouble logging in at the branch, please ask branch staff for assistance.

    Yes! Our staff are happy to help you with your basic technology needs on a walk-in basis, but if you require more in-depth assistance (i.e. more than a few minutes), you can book a free one-on-one Tech Help appointment with a staff member.

    Yes!  Some branches have charging stations for public use.  Branches also have plug-ins near seating areas so as long as your device doesn't create a tripping hazard you are free to plug in.

    Please note, charging stations and plug-ins are not monitored. You are responsible for the security of your device.

    Yes, if you are visiting or don't have a library card branch staff can log you into a public station as a visitor.

    At this time, we are not able to reserve computers. They are available on a first-come, first served basis. 

    All of our public computers offer:

    • Internet access.
    • Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Publisher. 
    • Cura for 3D printing.
    • Adobe Digital Editions.
    • Adobe Reader.
    • cloudLibrary.

    If you want to listen to audio please ensure you have headphones or you can purchase SDG earbuds for $2.00.

    Yes, and if you are planning to save documents this is the best option as all personal information and working documents are cleared from the computer when your session ends. 

    Everyone is allowed 2 hours of access per day on the public computer stations.  If you are working on a specific project, job searching, doing school work or other online learning and need additional time please speak with branch staff before you log in and they may be able to provide you with additional time.

    We have free wifi at all branches.  The password for theGuest WiFi is usually posted in the branch but if you can't find it just ask library staff.

    Yes, all branches have fax machines.  Registered library members can send faxes anywhere within Canada for free.  Faxes outside of Canada are $2.00 per page, with a 5 page limit.

    Scanning services, to either a USB or email, are available, for free at the following locations: 

    • Alexandria
    • Lancaster
    • Finch
    • Ingleside
    • Winchester
    • Morrisburg 

    Yes, all branches offer wireless printing.  Information to access this service is available in the branches and library staff can provide assistance.

    Printing and photocopying are available at all branches, with the following fees in place:

    • Black and white: $0.25 per page.

    Alexandria, Lancaster, Finch, Ingleside, Winchester and Morrisburg. have colour printing and photocopying services available, with the following fees in place:  

    • Colour: $1.00 per page.

    Note: double-sided printing and photocopying will charge for both sides of the page. 

    The SDG Library has computer workstations at all branches. Computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved in advance. Check the hours and locations page to locate the nearest library branch.
