Something Spooky Has Arrived at the SDG Library

The SDG Library is inviting residents to explore the mysterious, the unusual, and the unexplained with the newest addition to the Library of Things collection: a Ghost Hunting Kit.

Designed for curious minds, amateur investigators, history enthusiasts, and anyone who has ever wondered what goes bump in the night, the Ghost Hunting Kit provides the tools needed to investigate strange sounds, unusual readings, and mysterious occurrences while encouraging a fun, educational, and critical-thinking approach to exploration.

Whether visiting a historic site, exploring an old building, or gathering with friends for a spooky evening of investigation, borrowers can use the kit to document their observations and learn more about the technology often used in paranormal investigations.

What you will find in the kit:

  • EMF Detector to measure electromagnetic fields from electronic devices and building systems.
  • EVP Digital Voice Recorder for capturing ambient sounds.
  • Handheld Radio/Ghost Box for scanning radio frequencies.
  • UV Blacklight Flashlight for revealing markings and substances that aren’t visible under normal lighting.
  • Three (3) LED Light-Up Cat Balls that activate when moved.
  • OBEST Mini Action Camera for recording your investigation in 1080P HD.
  • The Everything Ghost Hunting Book.
  • The Complete Paranormal Investigation Handbook.
  • Ghost Hunting Log for recording your observations.

The Ghost Hunting Kit is intended for educational, recreational, and entertainment purposes only.  The kit encourages users to approach every investigation with an open mind and a healthy dose of skepticism. Borrowers can record observations, review audio and video footage, monitor electromagnetic field readings, and compare findings using the included logbook and guidebooks.

The Ghost Hunting Kit is available for a three (3) week loan period. When the investigation is complete, the kit must be returned directly to an SDG Library branch during open hours.  To protect the equipment, it should not be placed in a book drop.  Borrowers are also asked to ensure all components are returned and that any recordings or files are deleted from the devices before returning the kit.

So gather your crew, charge your equipment, grab your notebook, and prepare to investigate.
