The SDG Library is excited to announce a brand‑new feature in the CloudLibrary app: personalized AI-powered reading Recommendations! Designed to make discovering your next great read easier and more enjoyable. This new feature brings a digital version of readers' advisory right to your device.
Whether you’re finishing a favourite book or placing a hold on a title you’ve been waiting for, CloudLibrary’s Recommendations feature will help find you other similar titles to read without leaving the app.
What Are CloudLibrary Recommendations?
CloudLibrary Recommendations are tailored reading suggestions generated when you interact with certain titles in the app. This feature uses librarian‑curated strategies and secure AI to suggest books that match your interests, helping you discover authors, genres, and titles you may not have found on your own.
Each recommendation includes a short explanation describing why the title was chosen, making the experience fun, engaging, and informative just like chatting with library staff about what to read next!
Where You’ll See Recommendations in the App
You see recommendations in three (3) key places within the CloudLibrary app:
- On the book details page.
- When placing a hold.
- When returning a title.
At each of these moments, CloudLibrary will offer thoughtful suggestions that connect to your current reading activity, right when you’re thinking, “What should I read next?”
How the Feature Works
- You can choose to opt in or opt out of Recommendations at any time.
- If you tap the "Recommendations" button, suggestions will continue to appear until you reach the daily limit.
- Tapping "Not Now" turns the feature off, and you can opt back in later through the Account tab in the app.
Here’s what you can expect:
- Three (3) recommendations for each request.
- Up to five (5) requests per day.
- Recommendations are always for titles currently available to borrow.
- Suggestions are provided in the same format as the original title (eBook to eBook, audiobook to audiobook).
- Patrons can Save for Later to build a future reading list.

If you already use the CloudLibrary app, simply update your app (if needed) and start reading as usual. Recommendations will appear at key moments along the way. If you’re new to CloudLibrary, now is the perfect time to download the app and see how easy it is to discover your next favourite book!
