Creativity has a way of bringing people together, whether you’re crafting something by hand, experimenting with a new tool, or simply exploring an idea to see where it leads. Activities like this boost confidence, reduce stress, and inspire new passions. This curiosity is exactly why May‑ker Month exists: a chance to celebrate the joy of making and to remind ourselves that creativity isn’t about perfection, it’s about trying, tinkering, and discovering what you can do.
This May, the SDG Library is embracing that spirit with a full month of hands‑on programs designed for makers of all ages. May‑ker Month is our annual celebration of crafting, building, imagining, and exploring and this year’s lineup is packed with variety. Want to create something personal and practical? Join us to design your own sublimation mug, where you can turn a blank surface into a colourful, custom piece you’ll use every day. Feeling artistic? Try painting 3D prints and transform a simple 3D printed object into something vibrant and unique and if you’re craving a burst of excitement, our Hot Wheels racing program bring fast tracks, friendly competition, and plenty of cheering as cars speed toward the finish line.
These programs are just a taste of what’s happening throughout May. We’ve planned activities that appeal to kids, teens, adults, and families, because creativity doesn’t belong to one age group. Some events focus on crafting, others on technology, and others simply on having fun. No matter your skill level, you’ll find something that invites you to jump in and try. May‑ker Month is also a great opportunity to explore new interests or rediscover old ones. Maybe you’ve always wanted to experiment with a new hobby, or maybe you’re looking for a way to spend time with friends or family. Whatever piques your curiosity, we hope you’ll join us and see where your creativity takes you!
