CBC Kids Reads is described as “Canada Reads for kids,” celebrating Canadian picture books and encouraging early literacy. It began in 2023 and is now in its fourth year.
This year highlights joyful, imaginative stories for young readers and continues the program’s mission to promote Canadian children's literature. Throughout the event, beloved CBC Kids characters champion different stories, special guests read them aloud, and families across the country vote online to decide which book reigns supreme.
CBC Kids Reads was established to encourage a lifelong love for reading in children while putting a spotlight on Canadian talent.
